We were featured on Tony's Kansas City!
*****TRIGGER WARNING***** The language in the comments of Tony's Kansas City is very harsh and derogatory toward the LGBTQIA+ community.
Well, it looks like Pansy finally made it. Tony's Kansas City, a long-running KC blog with the tagline "Opinion, Jokes, and Stories from KC," is known for being a professional troll. Yesterday, the blog featured Pansy, and let me tell you, the comments are comedy gold.
It looks like Pansy has really upset a conservative faction of the population. Frankly, I couldn't be more proud.
Not only are these commenters attacking the LGBTQIA+ community, it looks like they’re taking issue with Prairie Village, Kansas, too:
My favorite thing is the reply to that comment:
Most shocking, perhaps, is the mostly positive write-up Tony's Kansas City gave us. Thanks for your kind words, Tony! If anybody wants to read the post check out the comments, follow the link here.
In all seriousness though, these comments are disgusting trash. To hell with all of the negativity, hate, and bigotry Pansy’s debut received. As one of my favorite queens once said: When they go low, you go high. (That’s my girl Michelle Obama, remember?) I will not stop trying bringing Pansy to life.
I won’t give these comments power, either. That’s why I’ve decided to incorporate them into activist art. Artist Stephanie Bloss-Foley and I created shirts and stickers featuring a few of our favorite comments and a new custom drawing. These will be for sale on the Pansy website shop starting tomorrow (1/7/2020) at noon.
A portion of each shirt's profits will be donated directly to the Kansas City Anti-Violence Project.
Let's turn this hate into something great. Let's show the bigots they cannot win. Let's be powerful. Most importantly, let's celebrate love.
Stay safe out there!
